12 Stones Fellowship Statement of Faith

The Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant word of God in the original manuscripts.  It says exactly what God wanted written, therefore, it is the final authority on all matters of faith, creeds or practices and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. As such, it is the Bible itself to which we are in ultimate submission (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Titus 1:1-3; 2 Peter 1:21).

We believe in one true, ever-present, all-powerful and holy God who is the creator of all things in the universe who had no beginning or ending, who always was and always will be; He is eternal. God is not reliant on anything, yet He holds all things together (John 5:26; Colossians 1:17). God is one in essence, but three in person, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and they have each existed in eternal fellowship; each possesses equally all attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal second person of the trinity and is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 9:6; Micah 5:2; John 1:1, John 10:9; Revelation 1:8). Jesus in the incarnation was supernaturally born to a virgin named Mary and she conceived by the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2; Luke 1:26-35).  Jesus was not only wholly God (possessing all the divine attributes), but He was also wholly man (possessing all the human attributes) (Luke 2:40; John 1:14, John 8:40; Acts 2:22; Hebrews 2:16-18).

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God and coequal within the Trinity with the Father and the Son. The primary ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit also convicts unbelievers of their need for Christ and imparts spiritual life through regeneration (the new birth). The Spirit indwells, sanctifies, leads, illumines, and graciously empowers for godly living and service all who come to faith in Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit, in whom also we are sealed for the day of redemption. (Matthew 3:11; Matthew 28:19; John 1:12-13; John 3:1-15; John 15:26-27; John 16:7-15; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 1:13-14; Ephesians5:18; Hebrews 10:15-17).

We believe that God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit created out of nothing the heavens and the earth and all that is within them in six literal days.  He spoke everything into existence and is now holding all things together by the power of His Word (Genesis 1:1-31; Colossians 1:15-17).

We believe man is the crowning glory of God’s creation (Gen. 1:23-30). God made man (male and female) in His image and likeness and gave him dominion over all His works (Gen. 2:26-31). When God finished creating man He declared it was very good (Gen. 1:31).

We believe man’s fall into sin rendered him spiritually dead and therefore completely unable to initiate any reconciliation with God and completely unable to contribute anything to his own salvation. However, God graciously initiates by regenerating human hearts enabling man to respond to God’s call to salvation with repentance and faith. In repentance we turn away from both our sin and any confidence we might have in our own goodness and in faith we entrust ourselves completely to Jesus Christ and what he has done on our behalf. (Genesis 3:1-24, Genesis 4:7; Psalm 14:1-3, Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:9-18, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:10-17).
We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone and that when God’s grace is met by faith a person is justified—that is, his sins have been imputed to Christ and he is therefore completely forgiven, and the righteousness of Christ is imputed to him and he is thereby declared righteous and fully accepted by God. (John 1:12-13, Ephesians 1:4-7; Ephesians 2:8-10: 1 Peter 1:18-19)

We believe in the one true Church universal which consists of all those who put their trust and faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Believers are immediately baptized by the Holy Spirit into the spiritual body, the Church, the bride of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23-32; Revelation 19:7-8).

We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back to earth again visibly, personally and bodily to restore all things. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people. He will judge in perfect righteousness the living and the dead. The unsaved will be judged and suffer everlasting punishment in the lake of fire. For those who are saved there will be eternal joy in the presence of God in the new heaven and the new earth. "Even so, come, Lord Jesus." (Rev. 20:11-15; Rev. 22:20)
